Obliviousness and Presumptuousness ================================== The Best of the Georgian Crisis.... Here's a collection of my favorite bits to come out of the crisis between Georgia and Russia. "In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations." - Senator John McCain In this quote McCain is either oblivious, evil, or has forgotten most of the past 5 years. All of those choices are terrible. Read the full story at http://web.morons.org/article.jsp?id=7895 McCain Doesn't Oppose the Draft =============================== Obama should be all over this.... McCain was at a town hall meeting in New Mexico today, and while there indicated that he is not opposed to reinstituting the draft. Frankly, I'm shocked. McCain is already losing the youth vote by huge margins, and as far as the 18-34 demographic is concerned, the draft is a bit of a third rail. If McCain were to openly support the draft, youth turnout would be higher than it's been in 30 years and McCain would lose in a landslide. The Obama camp needs to pick this up and run with it. Something to the effect of "The American people already hate this war, and now McCain wants to sacrifice all our children to continue it" could be very effective if handled properly. This question of forcing our young men to serve in a war that the population hates is one McCain does not want to deal with when young voters are already energized against him, and Obama needs to work it. Hopefully we'll see mention of this a lot at the convention next week. In the meantime, when you're talking to undecided voters or even McCain supporters (particularly young ones), make sure to bring this up. I, for one, don't have a violent bone in my body. The thought of being forced to serve in the military terrifies me, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Meanwhile, I thought I had already caught the best of the Georgian crisis on Sunday, but it turns out there was at least one more quote to come: Read the full story at http://web.morons.org/article.jsp?id=7897 -- Copyright © 2000-2008 by Nick Johnson et. al.
