But were the First Amendment limited to such discourse, our freedom would be sterile indeed.
Justice William Brennan, US Supreme Court (1956-1990)
Morons.org started when founder spatula read with dismay an article in the news about the moron Christian group "Focus on the Family" and how hurtful and moronic they were being toward homosexuals and their families.
It turns out that spatula is a pretty good coder who also happens to find a lot of things moronic in the world. Better still, spatula has a lot of friends who find a lot of things moronic in the world. For these reasons, a mysql database was created, and a lot of effort was put into coding up a nice php library to manage articles so adding articles would be easy for spatula and his friends. Here they can comment on everything that's stupid and wrong with the world for anyone to see. Eventually that system became unmanagable, and a new engine was developed using PostgreSQL, JSP, and Java.
We don't use a lot of graphics. We figure you're here to read, not to look at a bunch of goofy 200k images that you have to download across your 9600 baud modem. We're philosophers, not designers.
Our news article headlines and summaries are available via RSS. The URL for the RSS file is http://web.morons.org/morons.rss. We try to do some light censoring of words like "shit" and "fuck" in the RSS file, and there is a PICS label in the file as well. Use this at your own risk. It is refreshed once an hour. Please don't download it every minute.
